The history of the company

Image       By the beginning of the 90s of the previous century the extraction of the salt «Extra» on the two salt plants in Slavyansk town reached about 200 thousand tons per year. However in connection with the breakup of the Soviet Union and deterioration of the economic circumstances the extraction of the salt «Extra» declined and ceased in the future. The main reason of the curtailing of the production of salt was absence of the raw materials base.

Taking into account the importance of production of such strategically important product for the country as the salt «Extra» in 1999 for the resumption of the production Valeriy Vyacheslavovich Panasovskiy founded Co Ltd «Slavyansk salt-mining company» which rented the destroyed production facilities sanding idle over 6 years of one of the state enterprises «Solzavod №2». Due to Valeriy Vyacheslavovich Panasovskiy’s efforts and persistence he managed to restore the production on the tight timetable.

Image       By the end of the 1999 the production of the salt «Extra» which is the most high-quality product not only in Ukraine but also far beyond its borders was adjusted. For 11 years of work the experienced team of professionals headed by Valeriy Vyacheslavovich managed to restore the lost and develop new markets for the salt «Extra».

Our production is shipped not only to the internal market but to the European and Asian countries. In the meantime own raw base allowing the company to work at full capacity and produce more than 13000 tons of salt «Extra» per month was created. The company is stable and increases the production volume by means of the constant improvement of the technology of production of the salt «Extra» and the modernization of the production processes.

Image       The roots of the salt industry on the Slavyansk land go to the far XVI century. Decrees about the development of salt deposits were accepted even by Peter I. Firstly it was mentioned about salt production in our area in 1527 in «The Book of the large drawings». Hereafter the extraction of the salt was put into industrial base.

The new comers studied the subsoil of the Donets basin. Already in 1625 the salt was extracted in the current Slavyansk region. "Eager" people from Valuiki, Oskol, Yelets, Kursk, and other "outlying " cities of Russia went to donets steppes to "earn a living" by the salt. In 1646 the small stockaded town Tor was built for protection against the Crimean Tatars attacking the new settlers and "eager" people (now Slavyansk town). And in 1650 the small stockaded town Tor’s private salt factories started to work.

Image        In 1665 the tsar salt factory which consisted of three huts and made the salt appeared in Tor. In total there were 40 "build-in" salt boilers. For pouring of salt there were built three barns. But the factory due to lack of manpower was inactive, sent from the central provinces salt workers were scattering. The regular salt production started only in 1676 after the settlement along the Severskiy Donets of cherkasy (escaped Ukrainians from the oppression of the Polish gentry).

The existence of coal deposits have been known to local people from old. In the Cossack villages and towns along the Severskiy Donets and the Don the metallurgical, mining and blacksmithing production was arranged. Izyum Cossacks from tor and mayak towns as well as the Don Cossacks from Sukharev village began to vapour the salt not only in Slavyansk but also in Bakhmutka - the tributary of the Severskiy Donets. Bakhmut town grew near the new salt mines (known since 1663).
